🎑 Is Albania Worth Visiting Reddit

Albania is an amazing choice. The Albanian alps in the North are gorgeous and taking the Lake Koman Ferry has been one of my favourite travel experiences in South Eastern Europe. The South has amazing beaches as well. Tirana as a city is cool and has an interesting vibe but overall I wouldn't go to Albania for the "city life".

1. The Cyclops’ Eye (Syri i Ciklopit) The Cyclops’ Eye is one of the most gorgeous natural attractions close to Tirana. And it is a quiet and hidden spot, because only the locals know about this hidden gem. Essentially, the Cyclops’ Eye (in Albanian Syri i Ciklopit) is a natural pool in the middle nature. I was just in Sarajevo, Mostar, and Kotor a couple weeks ago. Definitely worth a visit to each. Sarajevo was tops. Really cool city with a great vibe and a turbulent history. Did a war tour there and I think I could've listened to the guide for hours. Ideally I'd spend 3 nights there, but I did it in 2. Seriously, don't visit Greece and spend your entire stay in Athens. Take a bus and go on a trip, or a car, or a ferry and island hop nearby. Explore the country or rent a boat and go on a trip. Albania does have petty crime, but no more than a major city would elsewhere. Crime is rare, and most locals are hospitable and welcoming to travelers. Sarande wasnt that beautiful but the crystal clear water of Ksamil was really worth to visit. I took a little boat to a little island in Ksamil and spend my day there and it was much better with less People and noise. Depends on where you go and how experienced you are at traveling. Places more familiar with tourists were very fun and very inexpensive. So Sarande, Gjirokaster, Berat etc. I had so much fun participating in the night life there, meeting people, the food was great, sea is beautiful etc. To Albanians wanting to go to the USA, don't. Why so many Albanians from Maqedoni, Mali Zi, and Kosova still think this place is the best place ever is beyond me. America has regressed since mid 2000's in my opinion. Society here is steadily getting more toxic. Youth obsession with famous persons, steadily rising depression rates among young I'm American, I want to go on vacation and be away from Americans, so I visit places that Americans are less common. I would guess that only half the people I've ever met even know Malta exists, fewer know where it is. Malta's history, food, sites, weather, and geography are pretty incredible. 9.
If I were you, cut Zagreb completely, replace it with Kotor for 3 nights which is well worth it and angle for a flight out from Montenegro/Albania. I'd also personally remove split and put more time into Sarajevo (3 nights) and Mostar (2 nights incl 1 day trip around Hercegovina)

I might sing a different tune due tourist season. Of course its safe. Fastest way would be booking a flight from TIA to Instambul. Its cheap as well.

If you're interested, a day trip to Srebrenica is also possible but involves a 3.5 hr bus ride there and back - personally I found it worth visiting, both the memorial site and the sleepy little town itself, others may not be as interested though.
So I plan on visiting Montenegro and Albania for a month. I have a Itinerary set up and wondering if I should skip Ulcinj since I will already spend a lot of time at the beach and I have heard mixed things about it. My itinerary (not counting travel days) 4 days in Budva (with day trips to Kotor and Perast) 2 days Ulcinj
Barcelona (and Spain in general) is definitely different from Italy but absolutely worth visiting. The food and drinks are definitely cheaper than Italy as well, if that’s enough of a motivation for you. I definitely recommend trying to get off the main tourist circuit as there are plenty of tourist traps in bcn. A few recs:

Transportation to be free - Sometimes tourists has this rumor that public transportation is free in Helsinki - That is not the case.
